The U.S.-France Agreement on Science and Technology was signed on October 23, 2008. This was followed by Joint Commission Meetings every two years. The aim of the 2012 meeting in Paris was to monitor the progress of previous working groups and identify new areas for scientific cooperation. Dr. Kerri-Ann Jones (Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs) was the leader of the United States delegation. Ms. Helene Duchene (Director of Mobility and Attractiveness, Office of Globalization, Development and Partnerships, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs) led the French delegation. New working groups were created in Brain and Neurodegenerative Diseases, Trilateral Cooperation on Health and Sustainable Development in Sub-Saharan Africa, Bioinformatics, and Large Scale Infrastructure for Life Sciences (including biobanks). DCEG is representing NCI/Center for Global Health on the Large Scale Infrastructure for Life Sciences Working Group.
