Studying role of Smurf proteins in developmental signaling and cancer. Our recent joint-studies have identified Smurfs as the E3 ligases that control endocytic turnover of Sonic hedgehog (Shh) receptor Patched1 (Ptch1) via ubiquitin modification (Yue et al, eLife. e02555, 2014).
