Polybia Paulista is a wasp that produces a venom that contains a toxin called MP1. According to a study published in Biophysical Journal, it has the ability to selectively lyse cancer cells without harming healthy cells. It functions by interacting with abnormally distributed lipids that are found on the surface of cancer cells. It specifically punctures holes in the cell that causes “molecules crucial for cell function to leak out.”
